The BAS Programme has proved its effectiveness in co-financing business advisory services in SE Europe and Bulgaria in particular. Donors and beneficiary enterprises respond very positively to the Programmme and do appreciate its practical impact and usefulness. The financial commitment of the beneficiary enterprises in funding of the advisory services serves as a guarantee that company and consultant would pick up the most suitable development strategy that is most likely to be successfully implemented in practice. The goals of the BAS Programme coincide with the more general goals of economic development and employment support in each country, while in the accession countries the Programme facilitates the process of small business preparation for adoption of the EU criteria and standards.

One year after grant disbursement BAS staff, following discussions with the managers of the respective companies. As evidenced by the results detailed below from one year completion reports of 148 companies, total sales on an annual basis have increased by 37% , total number of employees by 14% , and productivity with 21% .
