The EBRD BUSINESS ADVISORY SERVICE (BAS) PROGRAMME operates a network to assist the development of small and medium sized enterprises in, Asia, NW Russia, the Samara region and South Eastern Europe. The BAS programme is currently operational in 15 countries and has completed successfully more than 5,000 projects.
OBJECTIVES OF THE BAS PROGRAMME:
- Assisting the growth and competitiveness of small and medium sized enterprises by financially supporting business advice and consulting activities to benefit from the best local consultants.
- Developing and strengthening the skills and quality of local consultant’s capacity to serve enterprise needs.
THE BAS BULGARIA PROGRAMME OFFERS:
- Cooperation in selecting the most suitable local consultants to solve specific business problems and to carry out particular consulting assignments; where the local expertise is not available to meet the particular needs of an enterprise, outside consultants are brought in to work and share their skills with the local consultants.
- Grant of up to 50% of the total net cost of a project to a maximum of EUR 9,000.
ASSISTANCE COULD BE EXTENDED FOR BUSINESS ADVICE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
- Market research;
- Business partner and investor search;
- Selecting and appraising equipment to be purchased;
- Improving organisational and business management structure;
- Preparing business plans;
- Developing and improving financial accounting and control systems;
- Developing and upgrading management information systems;
- Preparation and certification for quality management systems (ISO, HACCP, etc.)
These are only a few of the types of business advice eligible for funding. Each project will be tailored to address the specific needs of the enterprise. However, legal services and audit services cannot be supported by the Programme.
TO QUALIFY FOR ASSISTANCE, A COMPANY MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
- Small or medium-sized Bulgarian enterprises in all business sectors, with the exception of primary agriculture, construction, real estate development, military, tobacco, banking and gambling;
Programme support is available to enterprises engaged in food processing and production of building materials. Enterprises engaged in trade and services are also eligible for programme support;
- Privately owned with predominantly Bulgarian shareholders;
- Operating for a minimum of 2 years;
- Having between 15 and 250 employees.
